Getting A Domain And Web Hosting

A domain name is a name used to identify and locate your website. A domain name is unique. Domain names are formed by the rules and procedures of the Domain Name System (DNS). Just remember one thing, a domain is the address of your website. A person will enter your domain name and will reach your home. You need to buy a domain for your website to be located. Popular domain registrars include BigRock, GoDaddy, Hoix Indiaand more. You can buy a .com (commercial) / .net (network) / .org(organization) / .biz (business) / .in (India) and more.


A server is a kind of computer that connects many computers together. A server stores your webpages and displays them when a person visits your website i.e goes to your domain name. A server basically is the inside of your home. It has texts, images, videos and more. For a server, you need hosting. A host is someone who represents you to others. Similarly, hosting refers to to store a Web site or other electronic data on a computer(server) connected to the Internet. You can buy hosting at BigRock, GoDaddy, Hoix India and more. You can buy a linux hosting or a windows hosting. Linux hosting refers to a server running on Linux OS. A windows hosting means a server running Windows OS.

Is hosting required ? Yes !! Its like your guest came to your house but you were not there to welcome him. A domain only gives you a name. A hosting provides you with space to keep your web pages and show the guest whenever he comes to your door.

Here, I am going to go through a few cases.

Buying A Domain And Hosting.

•  Get on your PC and visit any of the above registrars and buy a domain. It is a simple check-out procedure like you buy online clothes.
• Next get a Hosting. I prefer a Linux hosting unless you are making a .Net
• Upload your files to server.
• Now, we need to point our Domain to that Server.
• If you buy a package i.e 1 Domain + 1 GB Hosting, then you do not need to do this.
• But if your domain registrar and host are different, then we need to connect them.
• Basically, we are going to point our domain to the IP address of the server.
• To do this, go to your hosting and the account information.
• See for this text " A Record " or " Server IP " or " IP ".
• It will be something like : 271.845.12.60      // just an example 
• Copy this and go to your domain registrar.
• Now, go to DNS (Domain Name Servers) and click on add an A Record.
• Paste this IP address and click on save.
• After 2 or 3 hours, your domain will point to your hosting.
• Do not change the name servers.
• Instead, add an A Record.
• The A in A record stands for Address. 
• Simply put, an A record is used to find the address of a computer connected to the internet from a name.

Buy A Domain | Free Hosting

• Got a domain but need free hosting ??
• No problem !!!
• Visit 000webhost.com and create a account.
• Now, create a new website and click on " I already have a domain ".
• Enter the domain name and create a password and done.
• You will see your CPanel.
• Upload your files in File Manager.
• Now, go to Account Information and you will see :
  " Your domain is not pointing at our servers. Add the Name Servers ".
• Now, remember what I told you : Never change Name Servers.
• Below it, you will see : " Or you can add an A Record : 201.152.45.12 ".
• Copy this IP ( Not the above one ) and go to your domain registrar.
• Go to DNS and click on Add A New A Record.
• Paste this IP and save it.
• After 2-3 hours, Taddaa !!! You domain will point to your Server
• There you have your free hosting.
• Remember to read the conditions of 000webhost.com.
• You require minimum 10 people to visit your website in a month to keep it running.

Free Domain And Free Hosting

• As told earlier, many registrars offer you with a free sub-domain.
• Thus, visit 000webhost.com and login in.
• Now, go to create a new website and select the 2nd radio button which asks you for a free sub-domain.
• The first one will be for the one who has a domain.
• Just type the name of website : mywebsite.sub-domain.com.
• Create a password and done.
• No need of pointing domain name server to hosting as this is done automatically.

My Conclusion

Well, frankly speaking, there is nothing free in this world. Getting a domain can rank you higher in search results. Free hosting is acceptable. But there are more of security issues with free hosting. One of them is base_64() . Many web-hosts keep this enabled and your website could be at risk. Hence, proper hosting is suggested. Asking me, get a domain and hosting.
