Fix Briefly Under Maintenance Error WordPress 

Ever noticed while updating, suddenly you get :

" Briefly Under Maintenance "

When you are updating WordPress or any theme or plugin, the WP places a " .maintenance " file in your home directory. The presence of this file shows the above message.

During update or upgrade, it is mandatory to disable your website and go through the process. Thus, this is done by the " .maintenance " file.

It happens sometimes that due to slow internet connection, the update file while being downloaded, may get paused. This leaves the plugin as it is and the " .maintenance " file as well. So, when you visit your site, you will get the message " Briefly Under Maintenance ".

The Solution

Just delete that file !!!

However, your plugin or theme may or may not get updated. So, just start updating again. If you are getting any other errors, then delete that plugin and try re-installing.
